10/10/10

It's particularly galling to know that while we in the east of Scotland are having a murky , gloomy day with a cold east wind, there are parts of the British Isles basking in balmy sunny weather. I haven't enquired but I'm pretty sure 40 miles to the west we could be bathed in sunshine.
It's the sort of day that makes reading the Sunday papers and drinking coffee very appealing.

10/10/10 and it's my brother's birthday. He is my wee brother as in younger not smaller as he got the tall genes and towers over me by at least 12 inches. However, nothing can detract from the fact that I am older and wiser and therefore hold the trump card.

He lives at the other end of the country, so it was a phone call to wish him a happy Birthday.
He responded by saying he read my blips and how much he hated the Meadows which was all I ever seemed to blip. I think this stems from his having spent some time with a collapsed lung in a ward of the old ERI overlooking them.

Oh and he also said I always seemed to be making soda bread. This is patently an exaggeration as I've only taken the second batch out of the oven this very minute. It's looking good too and might be eaten as comfort food while I look out of the window at the murk and gloom and falling leaves.

The blip was taken on a brief early foray into the outside world today to renew my acquaintance with my favourite cafe.
