A dark hole in the day
It's a gorgeous hot (!) sunny day, but not so joyful for me as my darling man goes off to Korea and Japan - lucky him - for two weeks. Not as bad as last year when he spent a month each in the USA and Australia. The leaving is the worse part, you get used to being alone fairly quickly (but that is not to say I don't miss him).
Our neighbour, whom I blipped about earlier this week, apparently suffered a stroke on holiday in Malta and was med evac'd back to the UK to have surgery on Friday. Stroke + surgery is not a good sign and I think there will be bad news. I worry for his partner - they are not married and she is 80, I wonder if she has any security. If he lives he will probably have to have a lot of care, or a nursing home, and she may not even be able to sell his house to pay for it if she's not married to him. What a nightmare. Meanwhile our neighbour across the road (with multiple cancers) tells me today that he needs a transfusion but can't get one for two weeks and that they spent four hours at the new Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Wednesday night - "they have the air on all day and we was froze" he said angrily. Things are not good in this section of my street.
So although I am missing N. I know how lucky I am to have a healthy, handsome, wonderful man in my life.
