Queensland Holiday - Day 8 - Glasshouse Mountains

It was another overcast and partly rainy day today. Bron and Rob went off to the wedding/work so we decided to go for a drive up to the Glasshouse Mountains which are nearby.

They are a set of 12 mountains that were formed by volcanoes 25 million years ago! Over time the softer rock has eroded away and all that?s left is the hard solidifies molten rock from the core. James Cook (an English explorer who first discovered Australia) first sighted the mountains in 1770, but it was Matthew Flinders (another English explorer) who first climbed them in 1799.

We drove to one of the lookouts first and then to the main Glasshouse Mountains lookout. The day was quite overcast and cloudy so the photos aren't as good as I would have liked. In this photo you can see a couple of the mountains and their odd shapes!

Tonight Kaz and I are going to put Spence to bed then have Indian takeaway for tea, then watch a dvd! A lovely night in!

I have uploaded yesterday's blip as well!
