surely you can see

I took my 35mm SLR along with me when I went out with my mom (r), aunt (l), and Laura (not pictured). It took me back, and was really just a fantastic experience. If you used to shoot with an old manual 35mm SLR and haven't in a while, get it out, put a 50 on it, and put some HP5 or Tri-X (or even that C-41 monochrome stuff) in it and go do what I did. (My SLR actually has aperture priority, but I don't use it).

While I was scanning these negatives, I was thinking about old Oskar Barnack and his vision, 94 years ago, of these little squares of plastic covered with silver capturing little moments of life. It was a good plan. The venerable 36x24 format still has a life, I think - my excellent digital SLR has nice controls, great image quality, good handling, but the little SLR (approximately the size of a Leica - a little louder) just doesn't affect people the same way.

I welcome the return of silver to my life, and especially the little kind.

Oh yes, one more thing - I posted a Polaroid for the 6th, for fun, but little did I know that I had an image I really like on this roll of 35. I think you should see it.
