It's been a long day
So, this is the bed frame I made all those years ago (around 1991/2) out of local tulip wood from a giant tree Dr. Quatt collected after a storm from Kateshill in Bewdley - he used to go around collecting fallen wood after storms then plank and naturally air dry it in his extensive barns at Beaucastle Farm in Bewdley. I chose tulip wood because I liked the pale greeny tinge and markings of the heartwood the untreated wood had. It was however difficult to keep these natural colours and I ended up having the finished product blond French polished. I love the calming effect the pale colours have in my bedroom. I made the frame over a number of months at Kidderminster College at night school in the days when they still had a woodwork department. Sadly it closed and my very enjoyable classes came to an end. But I did get to finish it first. I can't claim to have made the pole though - Mr Mortimer who ran the classes before John and was then owner of our local chip shop did that bit for me. Anyway, I'm ready to sleep now, night night x
