Orchid

Mrs.Joesblips prefers living plants to cut flowers, so on our wedding anniversary last year I bought her an Orchid, which was just coming into bloom. We enjoyed it when the flowers opened up, one by one, until eventually it gave up and the flowers withered and dropped off. All we were left with was literally a couple of sticke but the leaves remained healthy enough. We waited. Nothing! Herself was all on for dropping it in the compost bin but I decided to grant it a reprieve and placed it on a shelf in the conservatory where it languished all winter, largely forgotten.
Then, all of a sudden in the early part of the summer it burst back into life, producing two more glorious flowers. We were so happy that when they too wilted we decided to hang onto it and I gave it the occasional watering just in case!! Then lo and behold it decided to reward us with a third flower, this week. It has been fascinating watching the bud grow bigger and bigger over the past two weeks until yesterday when, like magic, out popped this beauty, which simply begged to be shot and posted on Blipfoto.
