just waiting...

Yesterday our newly filled bird feeders were mobbed by birds, including goldfinches which we have never had in our garden before. Today I was determined to get a good shot so I set up camera in a nice hidden corner (the birds are not at all bothered by me being there when I am gardening) and waited... There was immediate action... so immediate in fact that my camera still had all the wrong settings and my hastily taken pictures were blurry (1/50 not fast enough. What a surprise!) Then I waited another half an hour but nothing at all was prepared to come in my garden and have its photograph taken. I got so bored I started swinging the camera round to see what else I could see. Hmm... if you are in the middle of a fennel plant then most of what you can see is fennel.
