It's not that the Americans don't get tea; that would be an idle generalisation. You can get lovely loose leaf stuff in the bigger towns, and without exception our hosts furnished me with tea that was at least as good as anything I usually drink at home.
But generally, when you ask for tea instead of coffee in diners or restaurants, you get Lipton. And that tastes like anything from copper to fish. Not recommended.
That pot belonged to my mum. Probably my most treasured possession.
