vada abditae

By TomS

The rain has stopped and the sun is shining, so now the flooding will begin. By tomorrow morning I expect all the riverside paths to be impassable, which is a nuisance for dog walkers and cyclists but causes little damage.

It takes a surprisingly long time for the water to drain off our two catchment areas and find its way here, but it is inevitable. We only get serious flooding of the rain coincides with a very high tide, for then the water has nowhere to go. York itself used to be tidal and may well become so again with the way things like this are changing.
