A Gift for an Old Man

Just before getting in the cab, a tall and heavy flower arrangement was handed to me It was intended for a man I'd only met once (the grandfather of my girlfriends cousin). In his mid 80's, he's currently battling cancer, although by the looks of him it's hard to see. The only other meeting we had was during Chinese New Year this year. When we shook hands, the power of his grasp told me his that the gray hair and fallow cheeks were misleading to his true age. Now he's much thinner than the winter months but I would say that the spirit in his eyes is just as brilliant, if not more than before. Here's to life!
