Goose Breakfast

So it's my birthday today and this was my birthday treat


Up and out at the Montrose Basin Visitor Centre for 6.30 AM In.The.Morning.

Whipped around to the other side of town in a very long convoy of cars...a small high point was the face of the woman trying to pull out from the petrol station as car upon car upon car streamed past her at that ungodly hour of 6.30 AM In.The.Morning.

And then we traipsed to the hide and waited, telescopes were set up and binoculars were passed around waiting for light to break and the geese to set off on their search for breakfast.

They made several false starts but because of the weather, grey, dull, damp, mild they decided they had no need of an early breakfast and mor or less stayed put.

We all headed back to the Centre for breakfast, some of the nicest porridge I have had in a long time and well appreciated after getting up at 6.30 AM In.The.Morning.


I really recommend it if you are in the area, next one is 17th October, you might be lucky enough to see the geese go up!

...I may not have mentioned though, brace yourselves for an early start! ;)
