Rain, rain, go away!
For weeks months we have been yearning for rain. Everything was bone dry and had been most of the summer: hot and dry. But today we didn't want rain because we were invited to the wedding of the daughter of our friends Pete and Lauren. . It should have been a cool, crisp Fall afternoon with bright sun and blue skies. The ceremony was planned for a lovely outdoor ceremonial grove with lunch following at the home of the bride's parents, but when the drizzly rain and falling temps began, they had to go to plan B.
But, you know, plan B worked! The bride was just as beautiful (very beautiful indeed), and even though the ceremony had to be moved indoors, it was still lovely and very touching. Lunch was also moved indoor, but as you can see, the house was quite large enough to handle it. We are home now for a short break...mainly to take Gulliver out for a little walk; fortunately he doesn't mind the rain, but in another hour or so we will leave again to drive into Cleveland for the reception. Do I really need more food? Absolutely not. Maybe I won't eat tomorrow...but then you probably know how that goes.
Trivia for today:
~Current time: almost 5:00 pm
~Current temperature: 54 degrees
~Weather conditions: a dreary rain has been falling for most of the day.
~Prediction: more of the same overnight
Did the rain ruin the festivities? Absolutely not! For most things in life, I think it is attitude that makes or breaks the occasion. Today the attitude was positive and joyful, and I pray that Kelly and Darren's life together will always be the same.
