Torn up
Hectic Day.
Dropped the whippet at Nana Alice's house, drove Mrs Smith along to the Grassmarket where she was attending a course all day. Took off to Haymarket station to park the car. No car park anymore at the train station. Try not to swear. Drive back to the NCP car park, pay and display so load a tenner of change into the machine and then run to the train station with the kids. Just make it as the Dundee train pulls in to the station. Great stuff. Jump on the train with dozens of others, grab a seat, coats off, announcement comes over the tannoy that the train is cancelled. Next train is an hour and a half later which would knock a huge hole in the day so ask for a refund. No chance. Walk back to the car park sullenly, remove the ticket that cost a tenner and end up driving to Dundee.
It was a day for Ruby to celebrate her birthday and as one of her favourite places is the Olympia Centre that's where we headed. After the fun of the flumes, the wave machine, the high board (where Joe chucked my goggles into the pool necessitating a temporary stop to all activities while I dived to the bottom to get them back. The combination of the pool being 4 metres deep and the things I was trying to pick up from the bottom being extra strong prescription goggles meant it could have been a disaster but I managed it first time and without it being too obvious I was about to drown) and then the water rapids we went across the road to the Science Centre to see how the Solar System was created, play with robots and climb up giant noses. Then it was round the the DCA where they had an installation of torn blankets hanging from the ceiling. Joe was a bit nonplussed but at least I got a blip out of it.
Everyone is completely knackered now so it's early nights all round.
