Someone to watch over me

Well I may not strictly be a parent, but today I went to my first ever parents' evening, at James' school. Just a few weeks into the term it was more just an opportunity to meet the form tutor and have a nosey round the school. And from early impressions, all seems to be going well.

Today's photo is of the side of a building which looks onto the central "square" in the school. Three huge imposing black and white photographic portraits - described, unsurprisingly, as "scary" and captioned, well you can see for yourself. I have no idea if there is any significance to the specific people in the portraits, or perhaps they are just austere adult figures intended to keep children on their best behaviour, but this magnificent portrait is the middle of the three, and is certainly a unique and impressive feature ...
