Picnic Day

Picnic Day greeted us with a beautiful sunrise, silky clouds across the sky with a golden glow, and the air was so still and quiet.

A few hours later Daughter E and I were headed to our friends house in the country with our food. It was decided to head down to the river but when we got there it was in flood - wow it had quite a current. We stayed and ambled in the hot spring sun. Returning to our friends house we had lunch in the country. Lush green paddocks, newborn lambs, willows with spring growth and beautiful blue sky. It was peaceful and so relaxing and wonderful to be with special friends.

A collage today to show the strong current of the lower Waimakariri River, a current which was roaring to get to the sea, a current that would suck you under in a jiffy and a photo to show the beauty of the day with the river in flood. Its not often we see the Waimakariri bank to bank - its normally a braided river.
Perhaps not the best of collages but it does depict how the day was - lots of sun, laughter and wonderful company :)
