I'm the urban spaceman, baby....

Blip world meet Derek, my card playing friend, my Thursday night quiz friend, my drinking friend but most importantly my fellow North Easterner friend.

We won the quiz tonight, another £20 voucher to spend at the pub, so that's next week taken care of.

Derek is a retired Science teacher and an amateur artist, I blipped one of his pictures a while back and he's just exhibited in one of the London galleries after finishing in the top 100 in a national competition.

He's also a bit of a gourmet and chef. Christmas 2008 we ate at his house, having made a course each, but Derek surprised us all with Christmas crackers made of filo pastry and stuffed with fruits and Mascarpone. Absolutely fantastic and so incredibly rich that you couldn't possibly eat more than 4 of them! He's also a bit keen on whisky and like me appreciates a good, proper Russian vodka.

This shot was taken at the end of the evening and shows the effects of three pints of Guinness.

I'm sure he won't thank me for revealing him like this to the whole world but his expression is one I just couldn't resist.
