Not In Kansas Anymore

Tea Time

I could look at teapots, watch people making them, and shop for them all day long, therefore Yixing is one of my favorite parts of China so far. Today we visited a place where there were a large number of teapot workshops in one building, which also included a great museum of teapots crafted by masters. The precision the teapot makers have is amazing. Everything is hand built to begin with, but later some parts maybe cast and put together. The cleanliness that these artists maintain while working is something to strive for.

We began our tour of the studios on the 10th floor. This is an image of the first man we met. He is pouring tea out of one of his teapots...amazing spout action! After he shared some tea with us he demonstrated some of his teapot making skills.
