Railroad Bridge #2

This is the Pere Marquette Railroad Bridge, more commonly known as the Grand Rapids Swing Bridge. Built in 1902, the truss bridge swung open to allow steamboats to pass up through the Grand River. Shortly thereafter, the Grand River ceased to be a navigable river - oops!

Originally it was built as a double track bridge, thirty feet wide, but one set of tracks has been removed. The swing span turntable is rusted shut. The bridge itself is still in use and carries an Amtrak train as well as freight trains.

I've run out of the wooden truss bridges, and have featured another railroad bridge previously. I think I have a new series...
