sweet misery
"sweet misery".
I know that sounds just mashed up together, but I had a tough time thinking up a title of this picture.
I asked my friend of her opinion on this picture, and her answer completely got me thinking.
She said that when she was looking at the picture.. it was a happy scene. The picture enveloped happiness and beauty.. 'sweetness', and pleasant.
However, she said she noticed that the edges of the flower was droopy-- almost like it was empty.
It's like when you see someone who's smiling and appears to be continuously happy or in a good mood. That is, until you find out later on that that was just a mask they had on, and on the inside there was pain and suffering- that they were hiding away from the rest of the world. That it was being held back inside.
I've definitely been there, almost half my life.
So then, I described it as perhaps, 'bittersweet'. Until it was pointed out that the 'sweetness' in this picture overruled the bitterness. there was a hint of bitterness, but the beauty of the flower itself overruled the dark and overcame the bitter. That the good seemed like it ruled out over the bad.
The beauty in this picture seemed to have more power, although there seemed to be a subtle hint of bitterness, around the edges.
hidden away from the rest of the world -- sweet misery.
