Bye bye Bairdy...
I bought this television for my then girlfriend's flat. I think it must have been '88 or '89. And it was second hand then. It then came with me to my first flat of my own, at Caroline Place. It survived horrific abuse there, eventually being completely submerged in a mountain of empty cans, with only the screen visible. But it never failed. It followed me through all life's adventures, including being the first thing set up in in every place I lived. My first 'I can't believe I own this' property, my 'slightly bigger property cos we have two kids' property, and finally my 'property for life' property. In fact it soldiered on, right up until this month. And still never failed. This brave little television managed to outlive the very television signal it unfailingly received and showed me. This month the analogue TV signal in my area was switched off, and I decided it was time to give little Bairdy a peaceful retirement. We have newer, slimmer, brighter TVs now, with hundreds of channels. But they don't show history like this one.
