Cassie-eyn School

Built in 1876 - a model of Victorian Scots Baronial style, Causewayend School now sits derelict with weeds growing out of every gutter.

This is an utter scandal. Need a rant here - our council are a waste of space, THEY bankrupted the city, not the Scottish Parliament! LEAVE OUR SCHOOLS ALONE!! Hands off Harlaw as well. When the compulsory Education Act was passed in 1870 in Scotland, it would have been impossible for the councils of the day to even countenance closing a school! Why should our children's education suffer because of council greed? And why should gems of Victorian architecture go to waste? I heard Frederick Street's former school with its iconic rooftop playground is next... are they (they being the NHS in this case who plan to turn the site into a new health centre) seriously going to demolish it as well?

What is the world coming to? Save our architecture before it disappears under a sea of concrete!!
