Music to my Ears

Today's photo choice was a tough one.

I spent the afternoon at the largest WWII re-enactment in the States. It was extremely interesting. And loud. Lots of artillery, tanks, and troops. They had encampments in the forest preserve. And the main street in the town was done up in a french theme. Everyone was in period dress. They had an actual battle field show that was outstanding!

Today I went with a plan to capture the emotion of the ordeal, and not worry about the technical aspects of my photography. I believe I did just that which is what made today's blip choice so difficult.

The picture chosen was taken in the encampment. There were tents and fox holes and camp fires. The re-enactors were engaged in activites of the period. One guy was loading rounds, another was hand stitching a patch onto his uniform, and a pair were playing chess at a small table. I'm a huge chess lover so the scene was perfect. But I didnt chose that picture.

This guy really grabbed my attention. There is something very deep about keeping your music close to you, even during war. Look at the box of records and the 78 gramophone player. Those must be his prize posessions.

Yes, I am old enough to know what a record is...and too young to have ever used a gramophone. I wish I could share more of today's pictures.
