Skiddaw

Took a trip up to the North Lakes today. 1st time we have been in 6 months as it gets too busy with visitors and you can never find a place to park in the high summer. For those of you who know it we walked thru Great Wood upto Ashness Bridge and Surprise View (photos of these appear on postcards, biscuit tins, calenders such is their popularity and great beauty). We then walked onto Walla Crag not a great height but commands great views of all the surrounding hills, we then visited Castle Rigg stone Circle which is 4500 yrs old. I would have blip this but to many people about. We concluded the walk by following the old railway line into Keswick for ice cream. Weather was very Autumnal with a slight nip in the air.

This is a view of Skiddaw 3033ft from Walla Crag with Keswick in its shadow.

Time for beer and MOTD on the BBC.
