"Good take... wanna try one more?"

Meet Mike. I've got an appointment with him this weekend as The Lorelei try to progress their 'long-awaited' third album. Quite a strange process really, trying to perform something to the best of your ability and have it frozen forever. To be honest it's almost guaranteed that the one performance that is captured will not be the best I will ever do it, I won't be capturing the best example of it there will ever be, and no two takes will ever be exactly the same. But I quite like the thought that what is being recorded forever is not just the tune. It's how I played it at that very moment, it's how I was feeling, what was my mood, how high was my energy level, what was in my head, every single thought I had in those two or three minutes from start to finish... Sometimes when I listen back to older stuff we've done, I get a fleeting memory of these things, and have a wee smile to myself because although we may be listening to the exact same noise, no-one else gets to have that. It's mine.
