The Mill Building

This is the view down the River Leven in my home town.

The Mill Building is all that remains of Dumbarton Distillery, which used to make the grain spirit that is used in Ballantines Whisky.

The rest of the Distillery was demolished in 2008, the Mill Building remains as the developers are trying to get the council to allow them to make it into flats, the council have said no on many occasions and want the tower demolished.

So it stands, the last part of the big red building that, when you saw it from the Erskine Bridge, meant you were nearly home.

The one thing I do not miss about the Distillery is the rather pungent aroma of fermenting alcohol that used to waft down the high street!
