Bella's sculpture (#2)

Here are two more examples of my friend Bella's free-standing sculptures. They are quite large (approximately 80 cm in diameter) and very heavy. They were carved from an enormous old plane tree that the local commune ordered cut down as it was in danger of falling onto a busy main road. The two pieces can cup together perfectly, like a closed walnut. Not that anyone in their right mind would want to lift them.

The first sculpture by Bella that I blipped last week is here. I hope to show you more of her work in the coming weeks as I think they are really beautiful.
