I've been too busy the last few days to think about blipping.
I'm only just approaching 100 blips (including a heavy quota of pre-sign up photos) so this might be beginners nerves/enthusiasm but still...
The reason for the hiatus has been a torrent of public sector tenders which I'm responsible for writing/editing.
Yes, for the most part they are that dull. Making them interesting to read is (part of) my job. Not so easy on 2 or 3 hours sleep (much as I love the way Sorcha smiles at me when I change her at 5am). My head could be in better shape for literary criticism.
Anyway....
We recently bought this book which reminded us of our trip to Japan last year..
I still remember the joy of seeing this manhole cover in Hiroshima but I had no idea at the time that it was a source of civic pride across Japan.
It begs the question: what's missing in us that we don't have the same sense of pride in where we come from?
Shouldn't this be the first thing our elected representatives encourage? And could this be a simple way of making it happen?
Just think, every time you walk along the street you see a reason to believe in your home town.
I love it.
