Pinus mugo, Edinburgh Botanic Gardens

In Edinburgh once agian, this time for a late morning / lunchtime meeting of the Green Reference Group of the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO).

After the meeting was over, and with a couple of hours before my train back home, I carried on the "Green" theme of the day with a visit to one of my favourite Edinburgh locations, the Botanic Gardens.

Here we see the twisted roots of a fine specimen of Pinus mugo, the "krummholz" pine of the high mountains of Europe.
