there was a welcoming sign

Today was a good day, still gloomy but lots of smiles. As I was walking out of my dorm, I realized that we had a welcome mat, which is unusual, because almost no other floors or dorms put one out in front of their doors. However, within the very first week of school a girl on my floor bought it and placed it out there, which makes me smile.
