Windermere

Looking South along Windermere.

Englands largest natural lake.

The larger area of water nearest the camera is the North basin.

Separating the North and South basins are the main islands.

Belle Isle is the largest and has the only surviving Georgian Round House on an island in the UK.

The second largest is Thompson Holme.

Bowness-on-Windermere can just be seen on the L shore.

The deepest part is about 65m (220ft) and around the islands is as shallow as 3m (10ft).
