Happy birthday Tommo!

Today, was one of the most moving evenings I've experienced, gathered together at the Polish Club in Clifton to celebrate my boss - David Thomas' - 50th birthday.

Media bosses from all across the country were there to celebrate Tommo's life - because the reality is he may not have long left.

Now, it is absolutely impossible to describe this man. I have known him only five months and I have never met anybody like him. At his heart, is true zen. He promotes peace and happiness with every step he takes; every breath he takes - although each is getting harder and harder.

Because Tommo has sadly been diagnosed with lung fibrosis. Doctors told him that in normal circumstances, someone with his condition would have two to three years to live - but they discovered he had already been suffering for two years. He told his wife and three children in February.

Now, he amazes everyone, and particularly the doctors, with how he is still walking. They told him he would be dead by now, yet if you meet him you wouldn't know there was anything wrong. It just takes him a little longer to get up the stairs. And every now and then he'll get his oxygen out, telling us stories about the time he gave it to his dog Walter.
