.....
Yesterday the Pope came to our local park. He came to beatify Cardinal John Henry Newman who was buried nearby and has since been attributed with a miracle.
Hubby & me (& kidlets, but they have plenty of time to change their minds!) are athiest. Still this was an interesting event, and not something that happens every day, and as we run a local blog we'd been following the preparations for the event & were looking forward to getting over to the park to see the pilgrims, the protesters and maybe glimpse the Pope.
We didn't have access into the park where a mass and the beatification were being led by the Pope, but we were much more interested in what was happening outside - photographing and talking to pilgrims, protesters and police.
I took a ton of pictures which will be on the blog and our flickr later, but this one is my favourite. It was an accidental capture as I idly snapped at the 'seminary coaches' leaving the event, whilst standing by the protest group. I didn't think I would be able to make anything of any of the images but snapped anyway. I was happy to rescue this terrible quality but poignant image in Lightroom!
I've had to leave this untitled, because I think so much can be read into this image, depending on your viewpoint! Whether you agree with the protest or the grinning cardinal, it's still open to your own interpretation as to whether you see this image in a positive or negative light.
