Pretty Green...

..so, I'm sitting at the traffic lights this morning listening to Jonathan Ross on Radio 2, he pulls out a 'total tune'; Pretty Green by The Jam. I'm thumping the wheel and singing my lungs out....complaints from Owen in the child seat behind, "Dad that's too loud!"
This guy pulls up in front of me in a van, waiting for his turn to navigate through the lights and he's mouthing the same words and banging his steering wheel.
We look across at each other and spot the mouthed lyrics and begin to smile at each other. We're both singing along to a banging tune.......

I've got a pocket full of pretty green -
I'm gonna put it in the fruit machine -
I'm gonna put it in the juke box -
It's gonna play all the records in the hit parade -
This is the pretty green - this is society
You can't do nothing - unless it's in the pocket.

Exchanged thumbs-up, broad smiles and a fleeting connection comes to an end.
