The Real West II
Back in Moffat county, collecting rare Penstemon seeds to run germination protocols on, I took this photo. For a picture of what "barren" areas can look like in the spring click Here.
This outcrop is almost 3,000 feet lower than the photo taken in June. Notice the silvery cushion of Eriogonum shockleyi on the reddish substrate. I loved the contrast of the silvery cushions against the red soil with the whitish butte in the background and dark green mt behind.
