The Desert

We are in Dubai and it is soooooo hot compared to the UK! even in the middle of the night.

We got to our hotel at 4.30am and went to bed, bliss I thought until 5 am and then prayer's started!! just outside of our hotel was a mosque and the prayers came out of it on loudspeakers into the night air!!

At lunch time workers lay down and had a snooze on the pavements near the hotel (picture of the mosque)

Later in the afternoon our driver for a safari into the desert picked us up, immediately I knew we were in for some thrills, as we left the hotel at death defying speed weaving in and out of the traffic!
sure enough once we got to our destination and off road, we were on a roller coaster adventure with a launatic!!! but much fun was had! I wondered how far we would have got with our own Toyota Landcruiser before we got stuck in the sand dunes!!!!
Half way through we stopped for pictures and a spot of sand boarding, here the decission was being made on who was going first!
I opted not to go, not so much for the going down but for the coming back up!!!
After the thrills of the ride we went to a camp and had a BBQ and watched dancers perform, in all a very nice day.
