Kite flying lesson

Today most of the family had a slow Sunday morning start (I went out and got bread and did the dishes etc whilst everyone was still sleeping). We went to the girls' scouting opening of the year barbeque and the Abbie and Pippa were still playing outside at 10pm (not bothered by the cold at all), so a lazy morning was in order.

At the end of the morning though we packed the car full of kites and went to the beach near Renesse (NL). We took kites in various shapes and sizes so we could play around, as well as a packed lunch.

Abbie is getting quite proficient with small mattress kite, but wasn't too bothered today. She rather wanted to explore the dunes. Pippa took the opportunity to fly that kite, and here you see Bert giving her some tips. I have to admit, I do love this shot of father and daughter fully concentrated together.

I flew the big kite as well (the one Bert is flying here) and can really feel my biceps and underarms!

All in all it was a great afternoon, closed off by hot chocolates, pancakes and coffee at the beach side bar/restaurant.
