Window on the world...
It was Albert Einstein's annus mirabilis. (The year he changed the world of understanding for good and proper!) The Wright brothers acheived the first flight that lasted more than 30 minutes. Bloody Sunday happened in St Petersburg. The Automobile Association and Rotary International were both founded. As was Chelsea FC. And the Cullinan diamond was found.
1905 was the year our house was built. "Leadlight" or "Stained Glass" windows were very popular in domestic architecture in Victorian and Edwardian times - right up until the First World War. It was mainly found either in front porches or as long length windows on stair landings. This particular shot is a detail from the latter.
