Murder at the Oscars
Tonight we attended a charity meal in aid of Happy Days. This new charity aims to build a state-of-the-art play and therapy centre for chn and families with additional support needs in Bulgaria.
The evening began with some harrowing scenes of the conditions these chn find themselves in with no duty of care on the government's part to support either the chn or their families, no education and no special medical care. These chn don't know what it is to be loved and are forgotten and seen as disposable. One of our church members is the director of the organisation and he has adopted a lovely little boy who is now enjoying the appropriate support, care, education and love for his severe and complex needs. Let's hope the project succeeds in what it is setting out to do.
The fund raising evening a black tie do, set in the context of an Oscar's Award ceremony. During the Oscar ceremony a murder was committed. The characters were played out by members of the local amateur dramatic society and were unknowingly to the rest of us, carefully placed at tables like "normal" guests. During the scenes of murder, they then kept popping up in character - a bit unnerving!! A meal was served throughout while Wee Bone provided beautiful background piano music all evening.
At the end of the meal there was an auction - A'desk giving his wife the thumbs of approval from from his AV desk after successfully seeing off other bidders to secure the 48 Tunnock's teacakes.
Mozo also successful bid for the 20 cupcakes - an absolutely stunning display, winning much approval from Mrs Mozo and mini Mozo #2. Not only did he win the ones on display, but the bid also includes another batch for an occasion/theme of his choice. (We did point out Band 2 are playing tomorrow evening!!!)
