MATAKAEA POINT
A wonderful day sightseeing with Bro M. ending up at lunch at one of the oldest pubs in NZ - Stanleys Hotel in Macraes Flat - near the MacCraes Gold Mine - a huge open cast mine achieving 500 oz - amounting to over NZ$600,ooo of gold per day. Snow and DFO lighting not conducive to good pickie taking - & wending our way back to Matakaea point - commonly called Shag point.
This place is a gem waiting to be discovered - I've got it lined up for return during the red 5 lighting conditions. Home to the war-zone tomorrow - so move out burglars.
