AUSTRALIAN BOAB TREE
The boab tree is found only in the West Australian Kimberley region, but this one was planted 150 years ago by Margaret Giles who lived at the Springvale Homestead in Katherine, Northern Territory. The Boab is a distant relative to Baobab tree found in Africa, also known as the bottle tree.
The Springvale Homestead is the only free standing homestead of it's kind left from the early settlers of Australia, in this area.
