I've been reading Veblen's Theory of the Leisure Class...well, haven't been exactly. I started it, couldn't take the pain, and took a break.

I had thought, until about a minute ago, that Veblen was just a terrible author with some great things to say. Reading the wikipedia article about the book, though, I have a bit of a suspicion that he may have intentionally written the book in horrible, almost-incomprehensible English.

Either way it's awfully hard to read, and as I was reading it on the bus, a lovely light fell across me and I took this.
