The end of the season
I was making a toad-in-the-hole for tea tonight but was wondering what green vegetables to have with it. So I hauled out everything that was lurking at the bottom of the beer fridge; courgettes (a couple of them truly gross), black kale (nibbled full of holes), mixed french and a few runner beans (some very tatty), some gone-to-seed rocket well past its best and a few red mustard seedlings that seem to have survived two complete compostings.
Hmm, managed to use up all the beans and the two small courgettes plus the mustard and a few useable leaves of the rocket for flavouring, so now feel full of virtue and vitamins.
(Still got that humungeous courgette-thing to contend with, though.)
