Meet Julie...

The barber belongs to a very ancient profession with razors having been discovered as old as 3,500 BC.

Of course, at one time barbers were also surgeons - hence the red and white pole sign outside their shops - red for blood, and white for bandages. They did operations, blood-letting, applied leeches and pulled teeth. Oh yes, and administered enemas as well.

But I'm glad to say times have moved on. Julie has been cutting my hair exclusively since 1998. And she has never offered to apply a leech once!

(She doesn't like her picture being taken - so she uses her hair as a screen!)
