The final stick
No - not the final straw, but close to it.
So this was taken at 9:30, as the two dogs had their last play together.
The shared a reflective stick, handily pruned off the heather patch (the white one sees it as her task to prune back most of the vegetation), and they both gnawed on it together - despite one, then the other, trying to run off with it.
Then about 20 minutes later, she was in the back of a car travelling off to her new home. A little white face peeping out of the back window as she disappeared down the street. We think she'll be a great mother to new generations of guide dogs, at least that's what we tell ourselves.
Son was already distraught at school, his best friend ever has gone. So a lot falls on the little shoulders of the black pup to bring us back together.
