Lobster Pots
These represent what retired fishermen do with their waking hours - taking small boaties out and catching lobsters.
This was taken at Cairnbulg's boat haven - a wee harbour built up from a single breakwater in the 1940s using the remnants of anti-tank defences with the help of the Army. Cairnbulg is an ancient fishing village on the North East coast of Scotland, dating back at least to medieval times, if not before. It's also where my maternal grandfather was born.
In a time where commercial fishing is being hammered to death, at least there's hope for the hobby craft. Being a fisher to the core, I salute them all for going out and contending with the sea. You will never stop a fisherman from fishing, he has salt in his veins!
