Shoes
I drove to Leicestershire today for an "ultra long" orienteering race. There was a choice of 15k or 20k, and fortunately you didn't have to make that choice until about 2/3 around the course. I chose the shorter one, which turned out to be 22k, not 15. (In orienteering they advertise the straight line distances between "controls" or checkpoints; the actual running distance is usually a lot further because various barriers get in the way of running straight lines. Unlike the Richmond Park event last Sunday, this one was proper orienteering requiring a bit of thought and decision making about which way to run.
