Balloon's Day Parade

Brussels organised its Balloon's Day Parade for the second time, after the example of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Balloon Parade that is held in New York since 1924. The parade is part of the comic strip festival that is held this weekend.

The parade of gigantic helium balloons in the shape of comic strip characters, animals and objects crossed the city, accompanied by marching bands. One of the marching bands was "Advendo" from Sneek in the Netherlands. (Sneek is the city where I went to high school, can you believe it?) :)

The different obstacles such as cables, street lamps and traffic lights had to be passed by lowering the balloons, which added to the show (see balloon in the background).
