Earthquake Tourism
I hate to admit it, but today we did a bit of "Earthquake Tourism". In fact, I felt OK about it, we did it simply as a learning experience for the kids, since we've been relatively sheltered from the drama (office experiences aside - read this weeks blips).
So today was the first day they (and me to some extent) had seen the true physical effects on the earth. Wow, wow, and more wow. Although I have obviously had the "pleasure" of experiencing (partially) collapsed buildings ...
We wandered out to Porritt Park and Avonside Drive. Quite the scene of devastation, so so sad for people living there. Amazingly, we were able to walk amongst it, Diggers, huge cracks, collapsing buildings, roadwork's, 66kva electrical cables, and more cracks all the way to Spain. Yes, in tough times many of us find resolve in laughter. I so empathised with the person who did this.
Then back to the office for more tidying and setting up, and another relatively early night. Well earned.
