Baking Cookies

Emily and I got up this morning at the o-dark-early hour of 5:40 as she needed to be at Lodi High by 6:15 for a water polo tournament in Modesto. On my way out of Lodi, the bright lights of a donut shop called my name and I picked up some donuts as a treat for the sleeping children (and husband) at my house.

Gracie needed to be at the church by 8:30 for her service work at Gospel Rescue Mission today (they were doing some painting). After dropping her off, Jack and I headed over to pick up Emily's contacts and then ran by Kohls and Target for some last-minute gift cards for birthdays today.

We arrived home just after Doug left for work. I used the treadmill while the others made beds/got dressed and played a bit. At 11 we needed to leave to pick up Gracie from the Mission in order for her to get to her volleyball practice by 12. This was her first practice and she really enjoyed it. I'll have to bring my camera for some photos of Tuesday's practice. By the time we got home Emily had arrived home from Modesto. They won one game and lost one game.

Gracie and I ran over to Target to develop some pictures for a school project she's working on and then returned home for her to do schoolwork and I got into a baking frenzy. I made 3 different items and as I was finishing, Grant decided he really wanted to make some chocolate chip cookies. It took him a really loooong time to painstakingly maneuver his way through the recipe and the kitchen looked like a tornado had blown through by the time he was done, but his cookies (as seen in this blip) turned out beautiful (and tasty too!) He did a nice job of cleaning up the kitchen (mostly) after he finished.

Emily was attending a birthday dinner for Maci tonight at BJ's so I ran her over there at 6. Gracie was attending a birthday party next door for our neighbor Alexis. She left at 6 for her party.

Josie was watching Jack while I ran over to pick up Emily from BJ's. I was delighted to see when I returned that not only had she given him a bath and gotten him jammied up but was busy brushing his teeth. What a nice surprise and a treat!!

Swim meet tomorrow in Lodi. Should be a beautiful day!
