Marist vs. Bucknell
A win for the Red Foxes tonight against Bucknell's football team. It was our coach's 100th win! I'm not sure if that's good considering he's been here for 19 years, but it's a milestone no less.
I went to a special mass last night in honor of 9/11 victims and everyone involved in that horrible day. I still remember where I was when I found out something really bad happened:
All morning kids were getting pulled out of my 6th grade class by random teachers because their parents wanted them home. When I was in 6th grade, I was on the safety patrol, so I had to go into the hallway and direct traffic. I knew something was up all morning, but my teacher kept reassuring us that everything was safe and fine where we were. At lunch time I was standing at my post at the top of the big staircase outside of our cafeteria when the science teacher walked by. I asked him what happened just like I had asked everyone else, but before that time I hadn't gotten a concrete answer. He said "something really bad happened in New York City." That's when I found out.
I was really lucky that day not to have lost anyone. My dad was flying over the city for a business trip and could see what happened while he was in the air. It was such a horrible day and so many innocent lives were lost. These people are never far from mind and ALWAYS in our hearts. 9/11/01 will never be forgotten.
I'd like to end today's post with something the priest said yesterday. Whether you're very religious, slightly religious, or not religious at all, it's still an excellent message:
"There's nothing more inspirational then when you do something for someone knowing that they'll never know."
It could be something as little as remembering this day and those we lost. I know I always will.
